Highly efficient geographic ward

  • The majority of our inpatients are housed in a geographic ward with excellent charge nurse, allied health and pharmacy support.

  • Multidisciplinary rounds optimize patient care and discharge planning.

  • Internal medicine also admits patients to our High Acuity Unit (within the critical care area and staffed by critical care nurses)

Educational opportunities

  • Royal Inland Hospital has been selected as a UBC General Internal Medicine training site with the first cohort in 2027.

  • Family practice residents (18) rotate through internal medicine.

  • Option for formal teaching to residents, medical students locally or lectures via video link to the UBC medical school.
